About

Konnichiwa! I’m Kaori.

Welcome to Japan Paths. I am so happy you are here.

Kaori Japan Paths

I was born in the historic streets of Kyoto and now call the bustling metropolis of Tokyo my home. For as long as I can remember, I have been obsessed with capturing the fleeting beauty of my country—from the cherry blossoms falling into the Meguro River to the steam rising from a hidden onsen in the mountains.

Why I Started Japan Paths

Working as a lifestyle editor in Tokyo, I noticed that many international visitors often stick to the same crowded “Golden Route.” While those places are beautiful, there is so much more to Japan that often goes unseen.

I created Japan Paths to be your local friend on the ground. My goal is to bridge the gap between the Japan you see on postcards and the authentic, breathing Japan that locals love.

What You Will Find Here

On this blog, I share pieces of my life and travels, focusing on:

  • Hidden Gems: Quiet shrines, retro coffee shops (Kissaten), and alleyways off the beaten path.
  • Aesthetic Itineraries: Carefully curated plans that balance sightseeing with relaxation and photography.
  • Cultural Etiquette: Tips on how to travel respectfully and blend in like a local.
  • Seasonal Guides: Where to catch the best autumn leaves or the earliest spring blooms.

Let’s Connect

Japan is a country of endless discovery. Whether you are planning your first trip or your tenth, I hope my stories inspire you to walk your own path.

Arigato for visiting!
